The Next Generation of Biomass:
Our Proprietary Process

Biomass generated energy is not new. Biomass energy production plants have been in operation for over XX years, but it has inherent problems which minimize it’s efficacy. West Biofuels has developed a next-generation proprietary reforming process by which residue materials can deliver  energy up to 50% more efficiently than conventional biomass methods.

2 Key Differeneces

Scalable & Economical
West Biofuels offers the unique advantage of scalability. Not only does this makes our technology available for projects of varying sizes and budgets, but it allows for locating the plant at the source of the biomass. This virtually eliminates transportation, an obvious hit to the budget and environmental impact.

Because West Biofuels plants are scalable, they are available to those whose budget kept biomass technology out of reach until now. Based on feedstock availability, a properly sized West Biofuels plant at a centralized location offers the most environmental and economical biomass solution available. Combining tipping fees, feed-in tariffs, state and federal renewable energy financing, and long term energy buy-back agreements owning and operating a West Biofuels Biomass to Energy Plant can provide for a very attractive return for investors. It simply boils down to better and cheaper.

Maximum Efficiency
A West Biofuels biomass-to-power plantcreates a high quality syngas suited to power an engine combined with a generator (genset) to generate electricity. Using our proven emission control systems, these gensets are considerably cleaner burning and can be up to 50% more efficient than the conventional steam turbine, the standard for electric generation from biomass.

Additionally, West Biofuels has developed advanced adaptive controls using new laser sensors for the further processing and monitoring of the syngas. This UCSD Wavelength Modulated Spectrocospy (WMS) system can measure temperature, H2O, CO2, CO, CH4, NH3, and H2S simultaneously, in real-time and high sensitivity.  This optical measurement device provides a substantial advantage over conventional control systems and will enhance our ability to produce economically viable biofuels.

West Biofuels Advantage

Optimal Efficiencies
When combined with heat and power generation, our systems provide for up to 80% efficiencies for biomass conversion.

Minimal Emissions
When using the syngas for a genset, our proprietary emission control systems reduce NOX (Oxides of Nitrogen) from 450 parts per million (ppm) to less than 10 ppm, a standard unmatched in the industry.

Systems and Equipment Longevity
An important part of a profitable plant is limiting maintenance/repairs and downtime and our technology delivers this promise with a cleaner and superior syngas.
