Hat Creek Bioenergy
Our first facility in Burney, CA, opened in May 2025, is a 3-Megawatt BioMAT power plant. This bioenergy facility is a first-of-kind by using proven gasifier technology to convert sustainably sourced forest wood waste into (1) renewable electricity connected to California’s PG&E power grid and (2) sustainable biochar co-product soil amendment that reduces agricultural water usage, improves plant growth and sequesters carbon. Revenue streams from this project help finance forest thinning projects, attract new industries and jobs to Hat Creek, and have other positive economic and environmental benefits for the county and the broader region.
